It has been an AGE since any activity has taken place on this blog. I managed to keep it up for 2 years straight, week in week out, but I’m afraid I have let it slip over the last year. To be honest, I’ve still been keeping very busy with food photography. But lately it’s been for a client, not for the blog and there’s not enough time in the day for both, so unfortunately it’s been the blog that’s suffered. so I hope to FINALLY share some of these

Bonjour! I can’t believe it’s been four months since I posted here. I’ve practically deserted the blog but it hasn’t been just for the hell of it. A few big things have been happening behind the scenes here. I look forward to sharing a bit more with you in the next few weeks but here are the top three things that have taken up a lot of time/effort/mental capacity: 1. A few months back I had to reapply for my job as I was a contractor and the job was

I was just about to say, it feels like an age since I last posted but that’s because it has been! Three whole months since the Amsterdam Gingerbread House I made… golly! I’m so sorry it’s been so long but unfortunately, planning a wedding takes up a lot of time. It’s even more time consuming when you plan on making and crafting everything yourself (with the help of some good friends of course). Yes I had quite a few crafternoons with some very creative friends who helped me cut, sew,

Well things have progressed slowly with the wedding plans, although I’ve still got a lot of the essential things that need doing. You know, just things like caterers, buses and accommodation… but THE dress has been bought! It’s amazing and I love it. Yes! Unfortunately you’re all going to have to wait until March to see it. Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s going to come around really soon. Gulp. So much to do! Righto, as you may (or may not be aware) today is the MELBOURNE CUP! It’s the race

I’m the sort of person if you tell me I can’t do it, I’ll give it my all to prove you wrong. This was also the case when I was about 16. It was my Grandfather’s birthday and I wanted to make something nice. Mum had mentioned that he had fallen in love with the profiterole since living in France. So with this I decided to make a mini croquembouche for him. Mum had warned me: ‘they’re hard to make, my oven isn’t good enough, they’ll surely ruin, it’ll be

If you follow me on Facebook you might have seen one of my updates earlier in the week… the excitement of my latest purchase, the Jerusalem cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi. The other day I popped into my favourite independent book shop The Hill of Content to have a little look around. As soon as I spotted Jerusalem, and had a flick through, that was it. I had to have it. It has the most amazing looking salads and even a ‘stuffed’ section. So good. All week I’ve been reading through

As we’re moving into the last few weeks of winter (thank goodness) everyone around me seems to be getting sick, and last week I was no exception. Oh my, I was completely out of it. Bed ridden and full of chicken soup. My apologies for not posting last week, I was absolutely knocked for six. This week I decided to make some empanadas. Earlier this year we were invited to a friend’s Argentinian themed party where they had an amazing selection of traditional food. Amongst these local treats were delicious

I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaack! It’s been a while since I posted here – over a month – and I’m sorry for such a long break but so much has happened in those 5 little weeks. I’ve been so busy lately, even this post was a bit of a rush (hence why I haven’t written much) but I figure you’re all here to see the pretty pictures and read the recipes anyway. Right? One of the projects that’s been keeping me busy has been a very special wintery dinner party which I hope

I had the best ‘work’ day ever on Friday. Our first port of call was to the ACMI to see the Hollywood Costumes exhibit. This is a must-see for anyone who loves movies, costume design or fashion. Tim Burton’s Catwoman costume, the Marilyn Monroe dress (you know, THE dress) and the period costumes were amongst my faves… BUT it’s not just for the girls; Seb’s ears pricked up when I told him about the costumes from The Big Lebowski, Terminator and Batman. Definitely worth checking out. It’s open until August 18th 2013 and you

This weekend we dog-sat our friends beautiful puppy Olive. She is so ridiculously cute, she’s a long legged dachshund (sausage dog) rescue puppy. You can see some photos on my instagram feed along with all my other dog snaps (including Seb’s ‘step brother’ Bowzer).  It’s amazing how friendly people are when you have a dog. Everybody wants to stop you for a chat, it’s nice. Makes me want a dog even more :) Last week we made a good ol’ Sunday roast. It’s becoming a ritual when ever we have a
