Hello everybody. Boy, do I have a great recipe for you. It’s perfect for the end of summer/autumn season we’re in right now. I had such a bumper crop of baby tomatoes in my garden this year, I literally have bowls full of them in the kitchen. I had to come up with a recipe that would use them all up (or at least make a dent in them). I’m making myself sound like quite the green thumb, I’m not I promise you. All my tomato plants had actually self
A couple of weeks ago the friendly people at KitchenAid were kind enough to send me the Meat Grinder and Sausage Stuffer attachments for my beautiful stand mixer (her name is Roxy and she’s a treasure). I bought her about 2 years ago when we’d just moved back to Australia. I was living back at home at the time and had a little extra disposable income, so I just went out and bought one. I figured the sooner I bought it, the more use I’d get out of it, and
I had the best ‘work’ day ever on Friday. Our first port of call was to the ACMI to see the Hollywood Costumes exhibit. This is a must-see for anyone who loves movies, costume design or fashion. Tim Burton’s Catwoman costume, the Marilyn Monroe dress (you know, THE dress) and the period costumes were amongst my faves… BUT it’s not just for the girls; Seb’s ears pricked up when I told him about the costumes from The Big Lebowski, Terminator and Batman. Definitely worth checking out. It’s open until August 18th 2013 and you
This weekend we dog-sat our friends beautiful puppy Olive. She is so ridiculously cute, she’s a long legged dachshund (sausage dog) rescue puppy. You can see some photos on my instagram feed along with all my other dog snaps (including Seb’s ‘step brother’ Bowzer). It’s amazing how friendly people are when you have a dog. Everybody wants to stop you for a chat, it’s nice. Makes me want a dog even more :) Last week we made a good ol’ Sunday roast. It’s becoming a ritual when ever we have a
I’ve been so busy with work lately, I feel like I’ve been neglecting the blog! I feel so bad if I don’t post at 6am on a Tuesday morning. It’s quite silly the pressure I put on myself, which surprises me as I’m not usually this organised. The only reason why I’ve kept it up (the only thing I can put it down to) is the fact that I love doing it. It’s hard finding the motivation (especially on the weekend when all I want to do is relax) but
Well what a contrast in weather from last weekend to this weekend! From high thirties straight to low twenties. The sudden drop in temperature meant I felt like putting on my uggies’ and cooking something comforting. Cauliflowers were on special in the supermarket so thought I’d use this as part of a pie. It’s a vegetable I often overlook so thought I’d give it go. In the end it was quite a simple pie to make, and a great way to use up any excess vegetables you may have laying
Apologies for not posting last week – I always feel so guilty when I don’t post! In my defense I had a 5 day wedding festival down in Tassie that I was attending. I had intended to capture some photos to share here but it was all a bit too hard as I was part of the bridal party. The wedding was a beautiful day with perfect Tassie weather. The venue, Quamby Estate was an amazing location and I can’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re ever planning a road
I hope everybody’s feeling nice and relaxed after the Australia Day holiday? I was quite happy to have a pretty relaxing weekend to be honest. On Saturday Seb and I popped around to a friend’s place for an Aussie BBQ, followed by a bit of basketball in the park. Good ol’ fashioned fun. For this week I decided to make Pad Thai. When we moved back to Australia just over two years ago, we stopped through Thailand for a couple of weeks. Whilst staying on the Island of Koh Lanta, we
Christmas and New Years are behind us, and I’m well and truly back into the swing of things. This was my first shoot for the year and honestly, I felt a little rusty! It’s actually been quite a while since I photographed some food. I completed shooting all the Christmas recipes at the end of November (ages ago). All December was spent posting on the blog and getting the book ready for print. As I said last week, although it was a mammoth undertaking, it was all totally worth the effort!
Some weekends I find it hard to move and get out of the house and this weekend was one of them. It was cold and wet outside on Saturday so naturally all I wanted to do was hibernate. The last thing I wanted to do was to venture out to the supermarket – is anyone else this lazy? I had a good look through my cupboards and tried to decide what I could muster up with what I already had… and this was the result – and it was deeeelicious!
